Kinton Grove is a home that instantly captures the imagination. Sensitively extended and thoughtfully maintained by the current owners, it is a substantial period residence that combines character, space and warmth, a house with real personality and presence, yet one that remains inviting and deeply liveable.
Set in one of Shropshire’s most favoured hamlets, almost equidistant between Oswestry and the county town of Shrewsbury, Kinton Grove offers an aspirational lifestyle in a peaceful and private setting. Secluded within mature landscaped grounds, it lends itself perfectly to multi-generational living, with flexible accommodation that balances elegant reception rooms with relaxed family spaces.
A Home of Distinction
Georgian in origin, the property brims with period features: a hand-turned staircase, panelled doors, oak flooring, deep skirtings, casement windows and library panelling, all details that speak of craftsmanship and history. The exterior, of handmade brick under a slate roof, presents a handsome, timeless façade with the formal front now opening towards the gardens.
Flexible Living Spaces
The heart of the home is the superb open plan kitchen, dining and family room, designed for modern living and opening directly onto the gardens. More formal entertaining is catered for in the dual aspect drawing room and impressive library, while a ground floor bedroom with en suite, linked to a vaulted first floor sitting room, provides an ideal annexe for teenagers, guests or independent relatives. This adaptability makes the house equally well suited to growing families and multi-generational households.
Practical elements have not been overlooked, with a utility, workshop, greenhouse and cellars all contributing to the home’s versatility. Upstairs, four further bedrooms, including a principal suite with far-reaching views towards Rodney’s Pillar, enjoy an outlook across the gardens and Shropshire countryside.
Grounds and Setting:
Outside, the property sits within a little over half an acre of beautifully landscaped gardens, a true horticultural haven. Sweeping lawns, silver birches, fruit trees and roses are complemented by well-planned garden rooms, each offering its own perspective on the landscape. There are sunny terraces for al fresco dining, secluded seating areas and a kitchen garden for those with green fingers.
The drive provides ample parking and access to a 2-bay carport and barn, while mature planting ensures a sense of privacy and seclusion.
Location:
Kinton Grove, Kinton, enjoys a semi-rural position near Nesscliffe, which offers a primary school, post office, shop and local pub. Oswestry and Shrewsbury are both within easy reach, providing a wide range of amenities, schooling and transport connections. The A5, M54 and regional railway stations put Chester, Birmingham and Manchester within comfortable distance, making the location both tranquil and practical. There are also several highly regarded state and private schools in the area, including Packwood Haugh, Prestfelde, The Corbet, Ellesmere College, Moreton Hall, Shrewsbury High School and Shrewsbury Sixth Form College.
Agent’s Comments:
The phrase “forever home” is often used, but seldom does a property embody it quite like this. Kinton Grove is a truly stunning Georgian home, cherished by the current owners for decades, and it’s easy to see why. Offering a wonderful balance between elegant, spacious interiors and beautifully established gardens, this is a rare gem that combines character, charm, and practicality in equal measure. A home to grow into, to entertain in, and to enjoy for many years to come.
Sellers insight:
We moved from Shrewsbury to Kinton Grove with our teenage children 32 years ago. We have loved being in the countryside and a rural community, while maintaining our many activities in Shrewsbury, which is very nearby (as is Oswestry). Many improvements to the house have created light and warm spaces for all the family (now including teenage grandchildren) and for friends and guests. The garden has given us joy and relaxation - and a lifetime of learning. Kinton is a small, friendly community which also includes a Wine Club. Now is the time to downsize and hopefully move back into Shrewsbury. We hope to pass on Kinton Grove to others who will be pleased to call it home.
